Sculpture Carvings
Unlike relief carvings an object or figure carved in the round is completely three dimensional and not attached to a flat surface. A more skillful type of wood carving which involves true to life, detailed artistry that can be viewed from all sides.
The design
As with relief carvings sculpture carvings begin with a design, artistic creativity and technical knowledge in creating a piece of three dimensional art.
the process
Gluing and clamping the wood together before the design is drawn onto the wood
roughing out
The profile is then roughed out with a band saw and reciprocal saw
